More introspection as I update you on what has been added to the site, and issue a plea.
I'll start with the plea first- imagine my dismay when I realised that the Disqus comments were stopping the front page loading in Internet Explorer 8. I do most of my work in Opera or Firefox, so this had escaped me.
So if anyone has any problems with pages rendering, drop me a line on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it without hesitation.
But as to what is new, pages should now load more quickly, and this will improve further when traffic builds as all the cached feeds will be refreshed more incrementally. Much debugging has taken place in the wake of the IE8 discovery, which will also help, and there is a news summary now on the left of the home page (which will slow the page down!). The expansion to nature blogs has not happened today as planned, but will, and more general blogs will be added to that section, now that I have a feel for the rate of updates there. The rate is slower than I thought, yet still faster than my own blog...
