Who the [he]ck are METALTECH?

Well....fusing electronic beats, coursing synthesizers, chugging guitars, pounding basslines and vocals with tongues firmly in cheeks, METALTECH have stunned and entertained audiences throughout the UK over the past 3 years.

Spawned in Orkney, and with the lineup 66.6% Orcadian, they've played the Rockness, Wickerman and Belladrum festivals in Scotland, Club Antichrist (one of London's largest fetish clubs!), supported Alec Empire, Angelspit, Marionette and Psydoll, appeared in a nationwide TV advertising campaign, and now METALTECH have released their first full length album, Burn Your Planet.

Guitarist Rory Alsop aka The Insidious Dr Mayhem, spoke exclusively to AllAboutOrkney about the new album:

"The album itself was launched at a big bash at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh on the 14th from 7pm to 5am - we played a gig then invited everyone to the afterparty where we sold and signed CD's etc.

We are selling CD's in Scotland at the moment, and it goes for sale online from the 2nd of September on Amazon, iTunes, Asda, Play.com etc (you can pre-order now). So, get the drinks in, forget the daily grind and prepare for some real entertainment!"

The band are playing at the Scottish New Music Awards on the 4th September, and are nominated in two categories, Group of the Year and Best Loud/Metal Track.

Surf their wave before they surf yours. It'll be for the best.

LIstings appeal

This is currently a listings section, but wouldn't it be so much better if it was an entertainments section, with reviews, stories about upcoming events, and features about the local arts scene, past, present and future?

Of course it would!

This can easily take place if anyone wishes to send in news orreviews etc. If you fancy trying your hand at being a music critic or historian, or something along these lines, send an email to the address at the bottom of the page.

Equally, if you have a press release for an upcoming event, send it in!
