Cabaret 11 - they've got style - UPDATED!

E-mail PDF

The Orkney Folk Festival crowd was treated to a visit of the Cabaret 11 Red London Bus tour at the weekend.

This was an inspired though historically confusing promotional escapade to publicise the series of Sunday night variety shows being staged from July 10th at the Masonic Hall in Kirkwall by talented and versatile chanteuse Lorraine McBrearty and her talented and versatile friends (now listed below).

This is the third year of the summer Cabaret shows at the Masonic, and given the inventiveness of even the promotion it looks like they could be the best yet. In previous years mainly by word of mouth they have been a hot ticket - and with song, dance, humour, glamour and Weimar decadence what's not to like?

Cabaret Eleven the Sunday Night Variety Show is on at The Masonic Hall Kirkwall Orkney every Sunday from July 10th through to September 4th 2011.

The cast:

Lorraine McBrearty - Star of show , singer/dance/comic routines.
Jim Henderson [Singing Bus Driver] - Comedy and Singer
Ishbel Fraser - Singer
Jill Swanney - Poi Artiste
Cabaret Eleven Dancers - Catherine Farrer , Emma Ratter , Bethany Duncan and Rosina Groves- Moar. [Routines choregraphed by the dance group].
Cathy Matthews - speciality dance appearance.
+ Special guest appearances each week!

Cabaret Eleven is a variety show for all the family . A musical and comedy spectacular with a 'nod and a wink' to Priscilla Queen of the Desert , 1920's burlesque and their tribute to Hollywood Diva's transforming the Masonic Hall with glittering costumes , spectacular staging and theatrical effects into a Cabaret Club setting.

Bar - Meals - Show!

LIstings appeal

This is currently a listings section, but wouldn't it be so much better if it was an entertainments section, with reviews, stories about upcoming events, and features about the local arts scene, past, present and future?

Of course it would!

This can easily take place if anyone wishes to send in news orreviews etc. If you fancy trying your hand at being a music critic or historian, or something along these lines, send an email to the address at the bottom of the page.

Equally, if you have a press release for an upcoming event, send it in!
